On January 1st, 1998, at approximately 10:03 am, Noah Carter Rolf was born in a hospital in downtown St. Louis. After a night in the NICU (I was told the reasons I was there, but I can not recall at this time) I went home with my parents to a tiny home in Arnold, MO. I do not recall much from those early years, but I can tell you that on April 1st of 2000, I was joined by my little sister in the family.
Now, I wish I had some riveting tale to tell, but honestly, I was a suburban Midwest kid, not a very interesting life in other words. I went to a small Lutheran school called Child of God Lutheran Church and School in St. Peters, MO, and there I meet many of the friends I am still in touch with today. There in those elementary days, in which you try to find yourself, really nothing interesting happened there. I really did not begin to find myself until middle school, in which I discovered a passion for learning. At the time, I did not know where that learning would take me, from religion to science, and from math to history. The only subject I still struggle with is English, but seeing where I am going, that is not surprising.
In the middle school days, once I discovered a passion of learning, I gobbled up any information I could get, and I really haven’t stopped since. However, I did need a little bit of a nudge from God to get where I am today. The nudge was a bit more traumatizing than I would have liked. My father lost his job at MasterCard, and suddenly the world got a lot bigger, as the range of moving options was Texas to Maine. However, I ended up here, with the rest of my family as he found work here.
Lucky for me, I was able to graduate eighth grade with all my classmates. The good-byes were never easier to say though, and each one hurt. The moving day arrived, and my freshman year started. This is when I found my passion for what I want to do. I joined the robotics team at Lutheran, and got myself involved in the coding. There I found my passion for computers, and all this knowledge I had built up was coming to fruition. The math and science coming together in engineering, and the problem solving of coding was a match made in heaven for me. Each time I build a new piece of code, and it works, I get this euphoria feeling of, “IT WORKS!” Do you ever have that feeling? Because it is the best feeling in the world.
As far as today goes, I try to further my knowledge of computers, math, science, and history (because history is awesome) to become a better engineer in the future. I have graduated from Lutheran High School in Parker, CO, and will be attending college at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO, to attain by major in software engineering.
